Job Description
Find a job as an Agric Commodity Purchasing and Quality Specialist at Sourcing and Produce in Dar es Salaam.
- Identify and engage reliable suppliers and farmers for agricultural commodities.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and supply terms with vendors in line with company procurement policies.
- Survey different commodity suppliers quarterly to compare prices and quality.
- Build and maintain cordial relationships with suppliers, farmer groups, and truck owners to secure competitive prices.
- Visit farmlands regularly to assess crop conditions and identify potential sourcing opportunities.
- Purchase commodities according to customer requirements and specified quality standards.
- Oversee commodity cleaning and ensure removal of all external dirt and impurities before dispatch.
- Ensure all upcountry staff understand and can identify differences in commodity quality grades.
- Conduct pre-purchase and pre-shipment inspections to verify quality and compliance with export standards.
- Inspect containers prior to loading to ensure they are in good condition and free from defects or holes.
- Send visual documentation (pictures, videos) and brief reports of purchase activities, cleaning progress, and truck departures via designated communication channels.
- Collect, analyze, and update weekly market prices for key commodities.
- Provide the Project Manager with daily commodity price updates and market insights.
- Prepare and share comprehensive budget projections and purchase quantity requests with the Project Manager.
- Maintain accurate pricing records and provide insights on market trends and price fluctuations.
- Compile and reconcile weekly stock levels across warehouses and storage facilities.
- Prepare detailed stock status reports highlighting commodity movements, variances, and balances.
- Prepare, verify, and manage approval (sign-off) documents for all commodity transactions and reports.
- Maintain accurate documentation of purchase activities, supplier data, and inspection results.
- Collaborate with logistics and port operations teams to ensure timely dispatch and delivery of commodities.
- Support compliance with environmental, social, and safety standards in all sourcing and purchasing activities.
- Ensure all required transaction and export documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Must hold a valid international passport and be willing to travel at short notice to other branches or sourcing sites as required.
Location: Yombovituka, Temeke District, Dar Es Salaam (Do not apply if your location is not within Temeke District, Dar Es Salaam)
- Must have agricultural commodity purchasing experience.
- The salary budget is 800,000 TZS.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in agricultural commodity sourcing, purchasing, or quality control.
- Proven experience working with farmer networks, suppliers, and export documentation.
- Must have a valid international passport and willingness to travel at short notice.
