The FAO supports the implementation of the Enhancing equitable, climate-resilient and sustainable SSF through the SSF Guidelines implementation (GCP/GLO/1301/SWE) project. The United Republic of Tanzania (URT) is one of six focus countries of this global project, which follows earlier work on small-scale fisheries and SSF Guidelines implementation.
For the management of the above project in URT, a National Project Coordinator (NPC), is required. The NPC will be responsible for the planning and implementation of the workplans of the project and support coordination with other relevant projects in URT. The NPC will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative (FAOR) of URT, and with the guidance of the Lead Technical Officer (LTO) of the Equitable Livelihoods team at Headquarters (NFIFL), reinforced with advice from the regional/sub-regional fisheries officer(s) and other colleagues, as relevant.
S/he will report to the Ass. FAOR-P and NFIFL LTO, or their designate, and will work in close collaboration with the Fisheries Development Division/Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries (MLF) and its multistakeholder National Task Team (NTT) for SSF Guidelines implementation.
• *Reporting Lines**

The Project Coordinator will work under the overall guidance of the FAO Representative in Tanzania, and that of the direct supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme), and guidance from other technical officers at the FAO Headquarter, Regional and Sub regional offices, and working in close collaboration with other relevant officers at the country office.
• *Technical Focus**

The Project Coordinator will provide support in planning, coordinating and monitoring project activities, strategically also ensuring effectiveness and efficiency in all project-related operations.
• *Tasks and responsibilities**

More specifically, the Project Coordinator will carry out the following tasks:
• Support development, as appropriate, implementation, monitoring and possible revisions of the project workplan, including the budget.
• Ensure that the appropriate implementation and operational arrangements, in accordance with FAO rules and procedures, and technical support and inputs are in place for the successful achievement of project expected results.
• Assist in the planning and production of communication products on project achievements, as appropriate, and the SSF Guidelines.
• Encourage collaboration and synergies with other related initiatives and projects in URT, including - but not limited to - the FVC/GLO/225/MUL.
• Support the implementation of the NPOA-SSF:
o Assist in monitoring progress of NPOA-SSF implementation.
o Actively seek supplementary sources of funding and collaboration for NPOA-SSF implementation and organize/participate in meetings with donors.
o Identify possible collaboration and synergies with other projects and initiatives in URT.
• Participate in monthly catch-up meetings with HQ colleagues and keep project progress monitoring file up to date, as appropriate.
• Contribute to project progress and final reports for the donor.
• Participate, as required, in project meetings with colleagues and delivery partners to provide advice and guidance on project workplans and implementation arrangements.
• Perform other related duties as required

Liaison with the OCC will be maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, appropriate review and clearance processes.

• *Minimum Requirements**

• Advanced university degree in Fisheries Science, Biological Sciences, Social Science, Development Studies or related areas
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in fisheries policy, management and/or, ecosystem approach to fisheries, and rural/community development
• Working knowledge of English and Swahili
• Knowledge of the national institutions in fisheries and environment, including agencies with related mandates is an advantage.
